APY

Annual percentage yield (APY) is the annualized interest rate taking into account the effect of compounding. The APY for a 1% rate of interest compounded monthly would be (1 + 0.01)^12 – 1= 12.68%, or 12.68% a year.

APY is usually used for deposit or investment products, such as certificate of deposit, or high yield savings account. APY is analogous to the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), which is used for loans.
