A mutual fund is an investment entity that pools money to invest in stocks, bonds or other securities on behalf of a group of investors. The fund is managed by a professional investment manager. Mutual funds offer investors greater diversification because their portfolios consist of many different securities. The value of the underlying assets of the fund influences the current price, or the Net Asset Value (NAV). Investors can buy and sell mutual fund shares after each trading once the new NAV have been determined.
