Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS, money well spent

Today, I just want to take a break from my usual routine and write about a gadget that I think was money well spent. I am referring to my trusty Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS system.
My wife, my sister, and my two brothers-in-law pooled their money and got me this wonderful Christmas present (thank you guys!). I think they spent about $400 at that time, but you can probably get it for less now.
I cannot tell you how many times this GPS saved me from getting lost — something that I am prone to do. If I can make this into yet another post about money, then it helped me save gas, time, and ultimately money. Anyway, it is also good for learning local streets and finding great little restaurants I never knew about. I also like it for long trips because I have the freedom to make detours without fear. For example, I recently used it to find restaurant on the way home from Virginia.
Anyway, if you need to splurge from time to time, do not be afraid to do it — especially if it is something that give you back time. Why? Because time is worth more than money.

I couldn’t agree more - we just bought a Tom Tom GPS system and it’s amazing. Sometimes the money you spend on something like that is worth it, simply because it saves you so much time and headaches. I haven’t even hooked up the traffic Bluetooth service yet - once I do that it’s going to be invaluable when we try to decide whether to take the Belt or the BQE coming off the Verazzano (sorry, NY-specific reference there)….
Lauren - it comes in handy. You should get one, even the lower priced ones are good.
Brip Blap - Tom Tom GPSs are nice too. I don’t have the traffic service, because I don’t want to spend extra money. You live somewhere in south Brooklyn? I am in Queens and work in Brooklyn by Grand Army Plaza.
