I would have to disagree with you on point 3 about using technical analysis. Since most people who use TA are mostly trading ,and numerous statistics claim that 90-95% of traders essentially lose it all in the markets, i think that a diversified mix stock and bond index funds is the best way for ordinary people to achieve their long-term plans.
