Weekend Reading: August 10, 2008
By Pinyo • Aug 10th, 2008 • Category: Weekly RoundupsLast night, I switched Moolanomy over from the custom theme I wrote to a magazine-style theme based on Mimbo by Darren Hoyt. The most significant changes occur on the front page where you’ll now see magazine layout with Lead Story and Featured section. You can also see most recent articles with a quick glance (in the middle column). Overall, I have several goals with this redesign:
- Make Moolanomy more visually appealing
- Reduce unnecessary links and clutters
- Make it easier for average web users to navigate the blog
I hope I succeeded. Please let me know below if you like the change or not and any suggestion for improvement. Thank you.

Love the new look Pinyo, thanks for the mention!
Love the way you set up the theme. Great move.
Looks good.
Excellent site improvements. Thanks for the mention in the weekly finds!
It is hard to say, because I liked the old design enough that it left an imprint.
Might take a little longer to parse the content now with the loss of contrast. But the home page does a fantastic job of highlighting your unique content, like the Ask Larry Swedroe column.
Thank you everyone.
@Sean — Thank you for the compliment on the old theme. I designed that myself, so I really appreciate it. As far as contrast, I know what you mean. It’s challenging to get a good green link that contrast well. Anyway, I adjusted the black text and green link a bit and hope that it helps.
Yea, I really enjoyed the old theme, too.
Great new Look
