Weekend Reading: July 27, 2008

thumb

Last night I came across a site that talks about the power of referral; specifically word of mouth. For example, you like Moolanomy so you recommend it to three of your friends, then they turn around and do the same to three other friends. Awareness about this blog could spread to over a million people very quickly. Of course, this is all theoretical, but it does remind me… if you like Moolanomy, please tell your friends and family about it!

Great Articles and Interesting Finds

This week great articles and personal finance finds from Personal Finance Buzz include:

  1. Frugal Things To Do In… at Money Life Network — The Money Life Network launches another group writing project focused on building a map of frugal things to do across the country. Read their entries, or submit your own!
  2. Double Taxation and the Real Reasons 401(k) Loans Are Bad at My Money Blog — I wrote about 401k loans before and cited double-taxation as a reason. However, Jonathan gave a compelling argument why this is just an illusion — he still thinks they are bad though.
  3. A Second Economic Stimulus Check? Thanks, But No Thanks at One Caveman’s Financial Journey — I wrote about the idea of a second stimulus check earlier this week. Here’s another article that supports my point of view.
  4. Don’t Make Money Blogging at The Shark Investor — Thinking about starting a blog to make money? Do you realize that the vast majority of bloggers make less than minimum wage from blogging? Be sure to give this honest to God article a read.
  5. 7 Ways to Increase Your Cash Flow at Trees Full Of Money — Are you a bit short on cash during this economic tough time? Here are seven ideas to help put some money in your pocket.
  6. 21 Signs that you are losing interest in your job at Saving To Invest — Should I quit immediate if I possess all 21 symptoms?
  7. I Quit! (A Look at What Happens With a Plan) at My Dollar Plan — Another blogger that left the rat race.
  8. Hacking Your Mindset at Blogging Down Debt — You are what you believe. Wow, someone told me those exact words only a few days ago.
  9. Network Your Way to Job Security at Get Rich Slowly — Brandt (a guest writer) shares how he was caught in the net of downsizing and turned it into a positive event resulting in a better job.
  10. 118 Twitter users who blog about money at Mighty Bargain Hunter — If you like Twitter and Personal Finance, here’s a list of PF bloggers on Twitter.
