Great Post with Good Diagrams to Boot! We see a bunch of folks who have gotten themselves stuck in stage 1 and have filed for bankruptcy. Like you, we'd love to see people make it up to the other stages. But, if you've ever been at stage 1 and possibly 2, you might want to consider looking at your credit record and get those dings removed.

This is a great summary various stages.

I like the pictures and think and that more and more people will get to stage 5.

Does any one know what percentage of people reach stage 5?

I think I have reached stage 5.

This is great. I really like the part of automating saving and investing. David Bach has a great book called the "<a href="http://www.moolanomy.com/go/amazon.php?asin=0767914104" rel="nofollow">Automatic Millionaire</a>" that gives sound advice on this. Although I have just started my investment journey in hopes of gaining financial health, I am finding that it is a slow process and that you just have to stick with your goals... no matter what! I really like your diagram... thank you for sharing it!

@getagrip -- Thank you for your ideas. The reason I still have debt in the last stage is because I think most people will have some form of debt no matter how small. This could be a few hundred dollars you pay to your credit card companies.

@Doctor S -- Thank you. :-)

@Dawn -- And this is a good time to move into stage 3 (investing and saving) also. Hopefully, you'll be able to retire some of your debts soon so that you can move forward.

I liked this post a lot - the illustrations really helped some things click for me. I am teetering between stages 1 and 2 - trying to move firmly into 2 so I can work on getting to 3.

Wow these illustrations hit home with me. I really think that you could have had this post with just the illustrations and no narrative whatsoever! That is an amazing feat if you ask me! This is going in one of my posts of the week PINYO. You provide us with amazing content that adds value to us all!
