The Official Launch of Personal Finance Buzz
By Pinyo • May 27th, 2008 • Category: MiscellaneousOver the past two weeks, I have been working on a new project called Personal Finance Buzz. Personal Finance Buzz, or PF Buzz for short, is a Digg-like site. But the special thing about it is that it focuses only on money and finance related articles and resources.
Two Goals for Personal Finance Buzz
For Personal Finance Bloggers
There are a lot of good personal finance blogs out there. You probably heard about the highly successful ones like Get Rich Slowly and The Simple Dollar — and a handful of others — but there are a lot of great blogs that you may never even heard of before. With PF Buzz, I am hoping to give all personal finance bloggers another venue for promoting their blogs and articles.
So, please feel free to submit your own work to the site.
For Personal Finance Blog Readers
There are several ways to discover new personal finance blogs (some of which I will list below), but I am hoping to provide a venue where you can:
- Submit articles from your favorite bloggers
- Push articles you like toward the top by voting them up (or even vote them down)
- Keep track of everything through RSS feeds
Your Help Is Needed
Just like anything else, Personal Finance Buzz depends on you to make it work. So please consider this as my request for your support. There are a few things that you can do to help out:
- Visit the site and sign up as a user
- Submit your favorite money and finance articles
- Visit articles already listed on the “Buzz” page and “Upcoming” pages. And vote for the ones you like
- Share this new site with your friends
- Blog about Personal Finance Buzz. Please feel free to use the image above, or the 125×125 button on the sidebar
- Send your feedback and suggestion to me via the contact form.
Lastly, please visit it daily to find the best money and finance articles.
Other Useful Personal Finance Destinations
As promised above, here are some useful and somewhat unique personal finance destinations:
- The Finwikian — A personal finance wiki created by Mrs. Micah.
- A World of Personal Finance Bloggers — A Google Map of where personal finance bloggers are located, created by Prime Time Money.
- PFBlogs.org — A personal finance blogs aggregator created by Flexo of Consumerism Commentary.
- Alltop Personal Finance — A personal finance articles “newsstand” created by Will Mayall, Kathryn Henkens, and Guy Kawasaki.
In addition, there are also a number of personal finance carnivals, personal finance forums, and personal finance networks created by personal finance bloggers.
Personal Finance Carnivals
- Carnival of Debt Reduction
- Carnival of Financial Goals
- Carnival of Money Stories
- Carnival of P2P Lending
- Carnival of Personal Finance
- Carnival of Snowflaking
- Festival of Frugality
- Money Hacks Carnival

See you at Personal Finance Buzz!

love the new site! keep up the great work pinyo!
This is really awesome, Pinyo. I think it’ll be useful in a lot of ways. For instance, I periodically pop by pfblogs.org to see random blogs that I’m not familiar with. This should be even more helpful, since it’ll be spotlighting the particularly good posts of those random blogs.
Great job on PF Buzz. You are really paving the way for us PF bloggers. Thanks!
Great idea, Pinyo. Can’t wait to see this thing really take off.
I appreciate your mention of the pf blogger map as well.
Wow, this is such a growing field now. I’d love to get involved with the PF Buzz project. I’ll stick your button on my site:) and say a few words about it, too.
Very cool Pinyo. I’m signing up right now. Have you considered selling that time-generating machine I’m assuming you’re using?
This is quite an undertaking! I think it’s very cool, and that map, as well. I’m enjoying the articles, hope to have more time to spend this week. I would encourage any one with an interest in personal finance to join.
Best,
Lisa
Wow I am the man, I had found out this site and already signed up and posted before the official launch. Usually I am the last one to get into these type of things.
Great work on the new site, Pinyo. Hope it takes off!
You created Moolanomy, then Money Hacks Carnival. Now, PF Buzz in only two weeks. Awesome. What will you do for an encore?
Thank you everyone. Remember, I need your help to succeed, so join in, participate and spread the word.
@PT - My pleasure. The map was a great idea.
@MoneyEnergy - Thank you. I appreciate your help promoting PF Buzz
@Aaron - At this rate, I’ll probably have to sell a blog or two. I just have to wait and see what pop out on top of my “web businesses incubator”.
@Bryce - I have one more idea, but it’s a little beyond my capability at the moment. That reminds me to call my professor so we can talk about an idea I want to patent.
I love the idea. I was just thinking about something like this last week. The blogsphere needs more services like this to help everyone get more visibility.
Using the site ranking at http://www.mydollarplan.com/pe.....-may-2008/, I calculated that the financial blogsphere is growing at 6% per month in 2008. That creates a lot of potential for new services like this. Smart idea.
Excellent! Thanks for doing this. I definitely will post about it!
This is a fabulous idea. Thanks!
Wow! I REALLY hope that this one takes off big time … it can only be a good thing for the whole blogger community. Good Luck, Pinyo! AJC.
I think it’s funny when ideas I’ve had come to fruition … except I didn’t take the idea to fruition. I thought of doing this, just don’t have the technical expertise to start it. Congrats on a good idea and best of luck with it.
