Not long ago, a person interested in finding a better insurance rate would have been required to contact each insurance provider individually, or go through an insurance broker, to garner details regarding policy coverage and cost. Fortunately, that is no longer the case thanks to the technology available today, shoppers can narrow down their search by visiting websites that do most of the legwork needed to find the best insurance price quotes. The following tips can help you navigate the web to find the best places to shop for insurance.

There are dozens of websites where you can compare insurance policies and quotes, making your initial search much easier than you might imagine. Depending on what type of insurance you are shopping for, these websites may vary. For example, InsureMe.com enables you to shop for auto, home, renters, health, life, and long-term care insurance in one easy place. In addition to providing access to insurance quotes from top insurance companies, the website also provides helpful information in the form of tips and articles to help you better understand your insurance needs.
There is plenty of information available to aid in the search of affordable insurance policies, however you will be required to provide some information in order to get the most accurate quotes. Depending on what type of insurance you are seeking, this information may vary. For auto insurance you will likely need the make and model of your vehicle as well as some personal information. To get the most accurate health insurance quote, you may be required to answer some basic questions regarding your health.
While not all websites will require detailed information, expect to have it available if you plan on actually purchasing the policy. The websites are able to compare companies, policies and quotes, however in the end it will be up to you to decide which company offers the best rates for the coverage you need.
Are you interested only in car insurance? Or perhaps you have a need for health insurance? There are many industry specific websites that focus only on companies within that industry. These sites may offer a broader range of comparison resulting in greater savings. For example, here are some of the recommended sites for your specific insurance needs.
| Insurance | Website | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Life | Efinancial | I recently upgraded my life insurance and went through Efinancial and they were terrific. I doubled my coverage for a mere $10 monthly premium increase over my previous policy. |
| Health | eHealthInsurance | Someone in our group asked about the best place to shop for life insurance and everyone in the group unanimously answered eHealthInsurance.eHealthInsurance can help you with: Individual and Family, Small Business, Short-Term, Medicare, Dental, and Travel insurances. |
| Auto | Esurance | Have you seen those nifty Esurance commercials? They are fairly new in the car insurance space, but they are also less burdened by their more established competitors, thus allowing them to offer lower prices to their customers. |
In addition, you can use our insurance provider search tool for various insurances:
Again, it is important to remember that while the Internet allows you to reduce the legwork needed to find the best rates, you will still have to do a bit of research after you have narrowed down your choices to ensure you have found the best company to meet your insurance needs.

Hey Tisha great article about how to get insurance quotes. It is definitely important to shop around while looking for insurance and one of the best ways to do that is through comparing quotes online.
Thanks for the info Tisha, this will make it easier to choose the best insurance policy.
Depending on where you are located, you can have someone actually quote you, your family and advise you on the best type of insurance ie, short term, supplemental, or major medical. You can try these sites to get insurance rates but then you run the risk of having your info farmed out to lead generator companies and having people call you constantly to buy their service. My advice call an agent!
