Moolanomy weekly roundup #13: “300″ edition
By Pinyo • Oct 21st, 2007 • Category: Weekly RoundupsWow, another week has passed. Time sure fly fast. This is another good week for Moolanomy because the blog now has more than 300 feed subscribers. Moreover, two other members of the M-Network also reached the same 300 milestone recently: Being Frugal and I’ve Paid for This Twice Already…
For this week roundup, I once again use the opportunity to highlight some of my readers’ blog.
From my readers’ blog:
There are a lot of readers I want to feature this week, but I will have to limit to 7 for now. If I miss you, I will try to catch you next week.
- Working the Zero Balance Budget @ SAHMmy Says — discusses Dave Ramsey’s baby step 3. It’s a budgeting concept where every penny has a name.
- Is it a good idea to use your ROTH IRA as your Emergency fund? @ myinvestingblog.com — I would never use my retirement as an emergency fund. However, I think there’s a merit to this, which I will discuss in the near future.
- Change Your Family Tree By Making Solid Financial Decisions @ The Happy Rock — this is another Dave Ramsey’s idea that good financial decisions today can influence your family for generations to come — a very powerful idea.
- 5 Things I Bought New and Wish I Hadn’t @ Rather-Be-Shopping.com — A good list of things that can be bought used instead of new.
- Value of A Dollar @ The Definitive Report on Nothing — Weak U.S. dollar is bad for my family because we travel internationally almost yearly, but this post points out some of the positives.
- Misunderstanding the Bid/Ask Spread in Stock Trading @ The Essentials of Trading — this is a clarification of my post “The Hidden Cost of Free Stock Trades“
From the M-Network:
- The Readers Speak: The Easy Frugal Things They Do @ Being Frugal — excellent list of frugal ideas from Being Frugal readers. I hope you guys get back on your feet soon.
- Does swearing in the workplace benefit morale? @ Christian Finance — I think it hurts more than it helps.
- Start early for retirement savings! @ DebtFREE-Revolution — Time is your friend when it comes to saving for retirement. I started when I was 21 and I wish I had done it even earlier.
- A Guideline Budget - How Do You Compare? @ Gather Little By Little — this is a very good exercise that provides insight about your money values and financial demons.
- A Solid Breakfast @ I’ve Paid For This Twice Already… — this is a guest post from one of my favorite blogger, Brip Blap.
- Ten Reasons You Should Quit Your Job Today @ My Two Dollars — funny.
- Measuring financial success @ Plonkee Money — Plonkee shares her definition of financial success: “financial success means being able to buy the nice things that I want and not worrying about where the money has come from.”
- Sweet Investment Property @ Single Guy Money — my friend has been busy this week searching for investment property. If you are interested in starting this business, check out his story.
- When is OK Good Enough? @ The Dough Roller — it’s a philosophical question, but my answer is when I can learn to appreciate the word “enough.”
Carnivals I participated in this week:
- Changing My 401k Asset Allocation was featured in the Carnival of Everything Finance #5 hosted by Everything Finance.

Thanks for the mention, nice list.
Hey, you’re one of my favorite bloggers, too - thanks for the mention!
@paidtwice and Kyle - You’re welcome.
@Brip Blap - It’s mutual then
Thanks for including me in your roundup!
I used to think weekly round up’s were juts a cheap way of generating a new post for the day, but over the past year I’ve come to realise that they are a really good way of dicovering some new articles that I hadn’t read before and it saves me loads of time trawling the internet. especially liked the post “5 Things I Bought New and Wish I Hadn’t “
