Used your site to check lender rates and fees. i called the money store because your site showed a low rate, no pts and low ($95) fees. Their fees really are closer to $1800. Rick said they break fees into two groups because the fees can’t be estimated. Apparently title fees and other fees are not concidered fees. Wasted my time.

After seeing a loan rate advertised on Bankrate.com by Avex Funding Corporation in early October we applied for a refinance loan through Avex, submitted all information, and paid for an appraisal and subordination request. The Avex rep told us our rate was locked and that we had approval pending processing. During the entire time that Avex was processing our request, even though we discussed our loan’s progress by both phone and email on numerous occasions, the Avex rep never disclosed that the rate lock expired on Oct. 25th. If we had known it would expire, we would have tried to re-lock to take advantage of the low interest rate environment at that time.

In early November, when the loan was underwritten, the Avex rep then told us the rate had expired. We asked her to speak to her supervisor about buying our rate down since she never told us it would expire. She has not responded. We think that 1) the company advertised its rates deceptively since they didn’t disclose that the rates were locked and would expire; 2) the company misrepresented our loan’s status to us since at no time during the processing of the loan did the company disclose that the rate was due to expire; and 3) the company’s customer service is terrible since they aren’t offering to fix the problem or give any kind of solution.

We urge anyone looking for refinancing to avoid Avex, in light of our recent experience. We have email documentation to confirm what we have stated above and will be happy to provide copies to anyone researching.

I read the first two comments about deceptive practices and all of these quotes are deceptive in their own way. It pays to work with someone who is going to tell you the meat of the deal prior to moving forward rather than hooking you in, requiring you to do everything to then find out the details.

  4. John says:

Just to give you a different point of view interest rates in Canada are lower but you must have a good credit score, and Canadian banks really do check all the info provided.

  5. Travis Vayssie says:

Great Post. Mortgage Rates in general are best to find when dealing directly with a lender face to face, but you can always search the net for a low rate.

  6. Nicole says:

Please pay attention to AimLoan.com! This is the dishonest lender. I wasted 2 weeks with them. Thanks God, I checked Google and now know what a monster they are.

  7. Jonathan says:

Just wondering if you’re gonna be creating an updated version of this tool. I notice that this was was published in 2009, but it looks excellent. Any chance we might see an updated version in the new year? Must have taken days to research these providers…..
