Moolanomy weekly roundup #12: “Hello Readers” edition
October 14, 2007 by Pinyo.
This is another great week for Moolanomy and the M-Network. The network made an exciting, as well as a sad change — we welcomed MyTwoDollars into the family, and said farewell to Financial Dominance. This edition is inspired by Skelliewag’s 19 Strategies to Help Turn New Visitors Into Loyal Readers. This edition will be fully dedicated to my readers, and the future roundups will include a few posts from their blogs.
The following are great posts from my readers’ blogs:
- Compounding — not as simple as it might seem @ Mrs. Micah — It really isn’t. In finance, average normally refers to CAGR (geometric mean) and not the arithmetic mean. This is a perfect example.
- Every Superman Has His Kryptonite @ Special Kind of Stupid (non-PF) — I love Kev’s funny and clever posts, but this one is particularly good. To quote Kev: “Like everyone else in the world who was blessed with the power of awesomeness by God, I possess several unique gifts.” Everyone is gifted at something — we just have to find out what that gift is.
- Which Type of Credit Card User Are You? @ Cash Money Life — Cool post about our relationship with credit card. I am a “Max Payer.”
- When Should You Start Saving for Retirement? @ How I Will Be Rich — The answer is as early as possible! Matt offers his insightful perspective on saving money for retirement.
- Thinking About Your Emergency Fund @ A Penny Closer — Emergency fund is not only about what you save, but having a plan to cut all unnecessary expenses right away.
- Having a Second Child Does Not Cost Much @ The Financial Blogger — This is a reassuring post for someone who is about to have the first child and is planning to have a second.
- How to do Business With a Friend Without Killing Each Other @ Two Wise Acres — Excellent insight into the world of business partnership. Because of my family history, I am afraid to death about going into any kind of partnership.
From the M-Network:
- Consider Carefully Before Co-signing @ Being Frugal — I co-signed once, and I will never do it again. I could’ve sleep better investing in the stock market during a bear market.
- What is your status symbol? @ Christian Finance – Needs, wants, or status symbols? A great post to help you manage your money.
- Stupid Tax on Wheels (But not mine!) @ DebtFREE-Revolution — It’s the lure of new car smell and the promise of small monthly payments that trap so many of us in the cycle of debt.
- The Cost Of Procrastination @ Gather Little By Little – Good thing, it’s just the car and only costed $21. I have seen people procrastinated going to the doctor and dentist — those can cost a lot more.
- Snowflaking - A Primer @ I’ve Paid For This Twice Already… — I know what “debt snowball” is, find out this version call “debt snowflaking”
- Ultimate Frugality - The Best Free Software For Windows @ My Two Dollars – Great list of free software.
- Cameraderie and one upmanship @ Plonkee Money — The path to happiness is to understand that you don’t have to be better than anyone else except your yesterday self.
- My Cousin’s Birthday - I Got the Present @ Single Guy Money – A blogger make a difference, one person at a time.
- 4 Reasons to Buy Berkshire Instead of a Mutual Fund, And Buffett Ain’t One Of Them! @ The Dough Roller — I wanted to own Berkshire stock for a while now, DR just gave me 4 good reasons to buy one. This would be a good complement to my S&P 500 index fund.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
