FTC Video: An Inside Look At Business Opportunity Fraud

Our society is filled with con artists who are promising people a lifeline through jobs, recession-proof income, and access to free government grant money. They are bleeding money from individuals like you and me, and from the economy as a whole. The Federal Trade Commission is cracking down on scammers trying to take advantage of the economic downturn and recently released a new video called: Fraud: An Inside Look.

In this video, Jim Vitali, a former telemarketer of fraudulent business opportunity helps consumers understand how easy it is to be conned — and how to avoid fraud. Jim gives an insider account of how these operations use high-pressure tactics and how consumers can protect themselves. The video also includes real consumers who fell for the pitch, recounting their stories. Here’s the video:
