Earn Money Online As A Blogger

thumb

Is it possible to make money from a web site? Certainly, my old sites made over $5,000 in 2005 before I gave them up (the subject was not appealing to me anymore, and I got tired of all the spams). Of course, this is nothing compared to many other sites, but that’s life. With a good web site you could build up both your revenue and asset — i.e., you could sell your web site and/or domain name. For example, Business.com and its underlying business was valued at $400 million just recently.

Last night I was trying to catch up on the latest tips and tricks on blogging, and came across Lifehack.org’s 101 Steps to Becoming a Better Blogger. Although the title is somewhat misleading, the post was a good one. I don’t think the post can really make you become a better blogger, but it definitely points out many possible things to make your blog more successful both in popularity and financially. I will surely reference it often to keep this blog moving in the right direction.

Arguably a better post, also found last night, was 50 Web Usability Tips that Help You Attract and Retain Visitors to Your Website. This post goes into more detail about one of my favorite subject: Web Usability.

If you have the inclination to start a web site, creating one about the subject you love can (with some work and little upfront investment) become a good source of revenue.

Those look like helpful links, thanks. For some reason I hadn’t run across either before (and I read lifehack…what’s life coming to?).

I sometimes feel the tension between blogging for fun and writing’s sake and blogging for money (which we could use!). I’ve been using Associated Content lately for publishing special stuff, so I focus on blogging for fun and as a place to express stuff. Might ad ads someday.

Your ads here are quite tasteful.

    Welcome to Moolanomy!

    You and I both :-)

As far as Associated Content, I tried it but the sign up server botched my registration so I haven’t try it again. And now, I am too busy to go back there. I might take a peek this Monday if I have time.

By the way, very nice looking site you’ve got there. If you are going to blog long-term, I ‘d like to suggest going with WordPress on your own hosting and domain name.

Thanks, Pinyo. I’m worried, though, about transferring over my blog…will it migrate from blogspot to Wordpress? :-/ If not, what do I do in the meantime?

Unfortunately, I don’t have that particular knowledge. There is a blogger who’s making a transition. You may want to join in on that conversation at the MBN forums. Also Google search may yield some ideas.

There are a lot of successful bloggers on Blogspot. But if you want to make the switch, sooner is a lot less pain than later.
