Weekly Highlights: January 16, 2009

It has been a while since I shout out to the personal finance blogging community. First, I want to share a recent interview of me done by Jeff Rose at Good Financial Cents — thank you Jeff! I hope you can give him a visit and check out the interview.
Now, here are a few articles that I would like to highlight:
- How to Care {Not Worry} About Your Finances at Prime Time Money – PT offers some great ideas on how to start off 2009 right and start mastering your finances. He touches important aspects such as your debt, income, insurance, emergency fund, and financial knowledge. Great read.
- 16 Ways to Do It Yourself at My Dollar Plan – Madison shares some Do It Yourself ideas. If you have been trying to do something different, here’s a good list to start off with.
- How does the Fed create money? at One Mint — I always wonder how it works. This article nicely explains it in an easy to understand way.
- 11 Things To Think About When Buying A House at Four Pillars — Mike offers a nice list of things to consider when you’re buying a house.
- 21 Ways To Save Some Cash By Letting Your Fingers Do The Walking at The Wisdom Journal – Ron offers 21 useful and practical ideas to help you reduce your expenses. I particularly like the insurance idea, since I did that a year ago and saved over a thousand a year.
- Live Frugal – But in moderation at Passive Family Income – A rather sad story, but insightful. Why go crazy with frugality when you can’t take money with you to the grave?
- How To Pay Down $83,306.89 in Student Loans at Finance Your Life — I can’t imagine what I would do if I owe that much money, but Doctor S has a awesome plan to viciously attack his student loan debt.
- Downsize and Cut Costs, or Work at a Second Job? at The Smarter Wallet — A thoughtful article about the current economy and the various ways to deal with it.

Thanks a lot for linking to my post – it’s not the complete guide to buying a house but it does have a couple of interesting ideas.
